Official Launch of Buddha's Wine and Buddha's Wine Global Children Fund.
On the 5th May 2006, we officially launched Buddha's Wine and the Buddha's Wine Global Children's Fund. The Atrium at Federation Square provided a warm and inviting environment and respite from the rain for many hundreds of passers-by to sample the range of Buddha's wines. More importantly, the donations from the tasting, along with a very generous donation from Hendra Widjaja, enabled the foundation to hand over a cheque for $25,000 to Kay Nattrass, the Principal Executive of Fundraising and Communications at Care Australia.
Just two days before winning the 2006 Gold Logie, guest speaker John Wood spoke about the importance of the role that Care Australia has in many countries around the world and the significance of the Buddha's Wine Global Children's Fund in its efforts to support the cause for assisting the needs of homeless and displaced children in the world community. This point was cleverly illustrated by the remark that Jesus turned water into wine, whereas Buddha is turning wine into water because the money donated on the day was to establish a water purification system for the children of Vietnam.
